A lackluster America performance in the first leg leaves things wide open for Pumas in the second.

The best away team in Liga MX this season will get a chance to snap America’s 14-game unbeaten run and potentially knock Las Aguilas out of La Liguilla. The first leg saw Pumas UNAM hold most of the possession, out-shoot America, and force goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin to make six saves.

America came away with an away goal, but as in the quarterfinals, they return to the Estadio Azteca with a number of questions about their ability to hold on to games. For America, it seems the goal can be summed up in just one word: survive.

Regular-season record

Pumas UNAM: 8-6-3 overall; 29 goals for, 19 goals against

6-2-1 on the road; 13 goals for, 5 goals against

Club America: 9-6-2 overall; 33 goals for, 17 goals against

5-3-0 at home; 19 goals for, 6 goals against
