Once again the tale of Chivas is a repeated cycle where they have started off the Guard1anes 2020 tournament in total chaos. The Jornada 3 was evident that Chivas needs a drastic change.

It seems like in the last 3 years that Chivas is just a club team that could be a total rollercoaster ride in emotions for many of their loyal fans. With the inclusion of many new players at the start of the Clausura 2020 it appeared that Chivas could possibly be the lethal threat of a team in the Liga MX through the year but that has not been the case.

Although Chivas did as many would say “Okay” in the Copa por Mexico tournament, reaching the final and losing against Cruz Azul in an unprecedented way, it left many to wonder that Luis Fernando Tena team could make a big impact in the Guard1anes 2020 tournament. But that has not been the case in the first three weeks of the tournament. After coming off a 2-0 loss versus Santos, Chivas needed to clean up and tighten up a few bolts going into Saturday night game.

As the home team welcomed Puebla on Saturday night, it seemed that Chivas could have captured their first three points of the tournament as the first few minutes of the 1st half, Luis Fernando Tena’s team were controlling the pace and taking opportunities. But after a careless foul that left Chivas with 10 players on the field thanks to the midfielder, Eduardo Torres in the 36 minutes of the 1st half, Chivas sank their opportunities down the drain.

But Chivas managed to keep the game leveled with a 0-0 score going into halftime but by the second half, it was evident that Puebla made changes and adapted to Chivas tactics on the field and found the only goal in the back of the net at the 63rd minute of the second half thanks to the striker Santiago Gabriel Ormeño Zayas made a beautiful turn with his back against the net when receiving a cross and finished beautifully. After that Chivas couldn’t find an answer on the field and failed to even score a goal to tie the game.

The end of the game was frustrating as Chivas were held to defend their own net and not even be able to seek a scoring opportunity due to being outplayed by Puebla. This was a costly game for them to lose as they also lost their head coach Luis Fernando Tena after the Chivas organization look another direction to try to compete because it wasn’t working under Tena.

With one point, one draw and two losses and not being able to score one single goal in more than 250 minutes of Guard1anes 2020 tournament, something was wrong and a change needed to be made. Oh and also we should mention that Chivas is the only team in the Liga MX tournament without one single goal. So yes we can say total chaos. It could be due to many factories, as a few of their players like Alexis Vega or Fernando Beltran being out due to the COVID-19 virus or injuries the team is facing has decreased the attacking front of Chivas but whatever it is, something needed to be done sooner rather than later and that just says Chivas are listening and paying attention and want to compete.

Now Chivas will visit FC Juarez on Wednesday night to search for their first win, while Puebla will face Tigres on Tuesday night in a game that could also determine if Puebla is the real deal of the tournament. Now that Chivas have lost coach Luis Fernando Tena it will be refreshing seeing what changes are implemented, if any to the starting team and if we could possibly welcome back any players as Fernando Beltran or Alexis Vega that have been hit hard by COVID-19.
