It’s after the Super Bowl; start giving soccer and LigaMX a chance:

If you haven’t heard, Mexico has one of the best leagues in the world when it comes to bedlam.  You truly never know what is going to happen or who is going to win.  It’s much like the Argentina league in that regard, but Liga MX is much more accessible.

In Europe, you can pretty much guess who is going to play for the trophies in each competition–stop fooling yourself.  You might be on a sports off-season or if you’ve convinced yourself that the English Premier League and the Spanish La Liga should get most of you’re attention.  So, as Viva Liga MX’s first post, I shall convince soccer fans in taking their friends out to watch a MX match.

1. The games work with USA time zones

If you have some friends that don’t follow soccer, invite them to taco night while a game is on.  Go a little heavy on Modelo and you’re going to have a good time.  Your sacrifice will be not drinking because you must be the designated driver that night.

That’s the level of inebriation you’re aiming for. Taco night can happen on a Wednesday 7 pm, but not at 11 am on Tuesday, Champions League.  If the taco place is playing ESPN, then there’s a problem.

2. You don’t necessarily have to follow a team

You don’t necessarily have to follow a team to enjoy the games.  Not at all.  You will be swayed by the colors , the style, and especially the coaches–once you get into it.  Entice your Europeans friends to stay up at 1am and stream any Liga MX match. Eventually, they’ll fall in love with something.

3. It’s chaotic

I’ve heard the criticisms against soccer.  Having a tie after 90 minutes isn’t grand but Atletico Madrid has 7 and Liverpool has 9.  The current average in Liga MX is four.  This is all because of their attacking style.  They’re going after each other’s scalps with their talented feet.  When I say every minute is worth watching, I mean it.
