Its either Tacos al Pastor or bust:
You will have to make a choice tonight. You will watch Liga MX, or will it be CONCACAF Champions League? Are you going to order barbacoa or fajita tacos; how many beers? It’s a lot to take in on a Tuesday, but your parents knew the rough world they were bringing you to. The options are many but the choice between your entertainment is narrowed down to two competitions: Liga MXor Champions.
Monterrey has two rival teams in Tigres (The Tigers) and Los Rayados (The Striped Ones). Both teams are currently enjoying success in the league, but only Tigres gets to compete with other Central American clubs. CONCACAF Champions is not the better version of UEFA Champions League. This should not deter Taco Tuesday.
(CONCACAF) Champions League – Tigres and Tijuana
The greatest competition on this side of the world is not the CONCACAF Gold Cup, unfortunately. It’ll be USA vs Mexico every time, unless Honduras or Costa Rica decide to take it seriously. Besides, the Gold Cup is nations–we’re lusting for neighborhood rivalries. The best competition is actually Cope Libertadores, and CONCACAF Champions League is somewhere behind that.
Tigres obtained the opportunity to play other neighborhood clubs from the region. Tonight is the second leg against Club Sport Herediano from Costa Rica. Their first leg ended in a draw when Herediano came back from a 2 goal deficit in the 90th minute. Yes, both shots came at the end of the match, to the despair of all those with tiger emblems on their hearts:
Club Tijuana have their own second leg tonight against the Honduran side CD Motagua. Tijuana won their first meeting with a one goal difference. They want to cement their place for the next round with a win tonight.
Liga MX – Can’t go wrong
Your local taco shop will likely play the Liga MX games tonight. Which of the six games depends on your region. What I can tell you is this: every team will not play comfortable. This is the most volatile portion of the competition and every point counts.
