In the end it was Liga MX that outdid the MLS:

The Chivas from Guadalajara beat Toronto FC via penalty shootout after regular time ended 3-3 on the global markings.  Viva Liga MX has been on a mandatory hiatus due to factors outside of our control, but we’re back just in time to see the Chivas come back from a bad start of the season.  Chivas got to lift up the CONCACAF Champions League trophy for the first time since 1962. Which means that it is the second time they win the trophy, but it just reads better to say “for the first time…”.

Toronto FC played a quality game; they made up their deficit from they’re prior meeting.  Toronto FC could beat the Canadian National Soccer team, so I could only imagine how bad Canada wanted Toronto FC to win.   It’s not like they get to celebrate much these days.  To all my Canadian friends: Be happy. Not everyone gets to be the USA’s hat.

Club World Cup for Guadalajara?

With the win, the Chivas will now represent CONCACAF as a whole for the Club World Cup.  We are currently taking bets on how bad they’ll lose to a European side, we just hope it’s either Roma or Liverpool.  We can’t deny the possibility that the Chivas could actually bring the Club World Cup to Mexico for the first time ever.  See, that would actually be the first time ever, not ‘since’.

Also, why is the Club World Cup in either United Arab Emirates or Japan?  We are on completely different time zones.  If FIFA thinks that we are going to wake up at ungodly hours to see a prominent Spanish team wallop an Oceanic team, then they really think highly of themselves.  Have the Club World Cup in the United States.  We didn’t get in the real World Cup, so let us have something, please…
