Prediction

After seeing it again, for what feels like the billionth time, there is not a doubt in my mind that Piojo Herrera will put his team out with the intention of merely holding on to advance. He’s done it time and time again. Instead of going for the throat and putting teams away, he has his teams sit back and protect the goal. This is fine if you are Puebla or Queretaro or some club that hasn’t had the level of success or amount of highly talented players, but not for America.

Herrera will play mostly defensive football. Toluca will possess the ball more and have more total shots. America will score and Toluca won’t be able to get enough going to advance, but I fully expect to be disappointed in the way Las Aguilas take this one.

Leg 1 Prediction: Toluca 1 – Club America 2 (Actual: Toluca 2 – America 2)

Leg 2 Prediction: Club America 1 – Toluca 1

Club America advances on away-goals.
