Two Liga MX clubs coming off of very different victories clash in the nation’s capital in La Liguilla Semifinals.

These two sides couldn’t have done much more to set this match up for excitement. Over two legs, America showed flashes that made them the favorite of a number of talking heads, but also displayed a lack of focus and aggressiveness to put games away that leaves them vulnerable to an upset. Pumas, on the other hand, disposed of a Tigres side that ho-hummed their way through the Liga MX Apertura regular season but were still given a high chance of going through.

While fans of either club certainly have their reservations to go along with varying degrees of optimism, guessing which team will put together the best performance over two legs of play is a difficult task to undertake. America looks to have the more talented squad, while Pumas seem to have more momentum and an air of confident recklessness that should be thrilling to watch.

Regular-season record

Pumas UNAM: 8-6-3 overall; 29 goals for, 19 goals against

2-4-2 at home; 16 goals for, 14 goals against

Club America: 9-6-2 overall; 33 goals for, 17 goals against

4-3-2 on the road; 14 goals for, 11 goals against
