Liga MX: Chivas plot controversial return of ‘El Titan’

Chivas plot controversial loan move for Bundesliga Mexican.
Many fans of the Mexican National Team celebrated when Carlos Salcedo’s loan spell with German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt was made officially permanent in August 2018. It looked like it could be a fruitful move from Liga MX to Germany for the Guadalajara native.
However, fate would soon intervene when, just one month later, he would suffer a severe injury to his ankle In a loss vs Werder Bremen an injury that would keep him out of action for 3 months.
Having made his return to the team in December, he has yet to regain the first team spot and the coach’s confidence. Now that the German League is on its official winter break, rumours abound about a possible loan move for the player.
Controversially, it is rumoured that his old boyhood club, Chivas, are extremely keen on bringing “El Titan” back to Guadalajara in order to solve their defensive issues.
It is clear to every fan of Liga MX that the Chivas have suffered chronic defensive issues ever since they won the league back in 2017, and despite the recent signing of Hiram Mier from Queretaro, it seems the club is willing to take Salcedo back on a short-term loan deal.
The player himself may be partial to a loan move, as well, as he does have family connections with Guadalajara and would almost certainly get as much playing time as he can get.
For Chivas fans, the emotions about the possible move are very much mixed. Whereas some may wish for Salcedo to remain in Europe and regain his form, others cannot help but smile imagining a central defense partnership of Salcedo and Mier for the Clausura 2019 season.
The controversy, though, stems from fans of Liga MX and of El Tri who would view the move as a backward step for the player, believing he is better off remaining in Germany and fighting for his spot on the team.
With the winter transfer window in full flow at the moment, a move for Salcedo from Chivas very much remains possible. We will have to wait and see what happens.
