Las Aguilas de America now shift their focus to reinforcements for the Clausura 2020.

Las Aguilas de America, came up short in the Apertura 2019 after they lost in a devastating penalty shoot out in the Estadio Azteca that gave Rayados de Monterrey their 5th trophy in the Liga MX. It did not take long for the Las Aguilas to quickly bring in new players for the Clausura 2020, as they announced two new players right before the final game of the Apertura 2019, the left back winger Alonso Escoboza  from Queretaro and the defender Luis Fuentes from Pumas both looking to ramp up Miguel Herrera’s team for the 2020 campaign.

Luis Fuentes will bring in a lot of experience with his 33 years of age as he has played with Xolos de Tijuana and most recently Pumas de la UNAM. Fuentes will have to battle deeply in taking a starting position in the back line of America with Bruno Valdez and Emanuel Aguilera having already cemented their starting spots for Herrera in recent tournaments.

Along with Fuentes experience, Escoboza could be a key player for America in the tournaments to come as he has slowly leveled himself up in the ranks in the Liga MX as vital player in his position. Escoboza has made some noise since 2011 when he debuted with Santos Laguna in 2011 and has since had stints with various Liga MX clubs. Along with regular first team play he also was part of the national team of Mexico in the U-20,U-21 and with the senior team when current America coach Miguel Herrera took charge of the national team when they faced New Zealand in the World Cup qualification in 2013 playing only two games under him.

With the amazing tournament Queretaro had in the Apertura 2019, Escoboza stood out throughout the campaign by playing all 18 games as a starter having scored 3 goals in a total of 1,600 minutes. So it makes perfect sense on why Miguel Herrera would bring aboard Escoboza with America for the Clausura 2020, in search of regaining a title that they lost in the Apertura 2019. It will be only matter of time that will tell how great America could be throughout the next tournament that is a week away from restarting once again.
