Analysis and picks for Jornada 2

Over/Under Pick: FC Juarez v. Pumas | Over 2.0 (-150)

Pumas take a trip north towards the border to take on the Bravos this Thursday. Having won their home opener in the previous week, Pumas look to string together another win while Bravos attempt to rebound after losing to a rejuvenated Chivas squad. Pumas have not fared well in hitting the over in their most recent away matches (1-4) but considering Bravos’ mistake-riddled defense and offensive tendency to at least score one goal in games (8 of the last 10), expect the game total to go over 2 goals.

Spread Pick: Santos v. Leon | Santos -0.5 (+110)

Santos was dealt a surprising loss from Xolos, but they will not be crippled by Estadio Caliente’s turf field when they are back at home this week against Leon. Oddsmakers are prepared for a goalfest this Sunday with the over/under being set at 3.0 goals. This is partly due to the exciting talent up top for Santos, particularly forward Julio Furch, who we can expect to find the back of the net in this anticipated high-scoring affair. In recent matches, Santos performed well at home (3-1) and that home-field advantage should be enough to tip the scales for Los Verdiblancos.

Moneyline Pick: Atlas v. Puebla | Atlas (-110)

Atlas gets to play in front of their home crowd against Puebla, a team making their Clausura debut after having the first week off. Both of these teams had disappointing Apertura seasons last year and will be trying to make the Liguilla this time around. Considering their recent signings, Atlas may have a better chance of sneaking into a lower playoff seed as they have also been dubbed by some analysts as a potential surprise team for 2020. A strong debut performance from their striker, Ignacio Jeraldino, in their win last week should carry into Saturday against a Puebla team that is 1-1-4 in their recent away matches.
