Club America 19-year-old central defender has made an outstanding debut in his first few games in the Clausura 2020 and already looks like he could be making some promises in the Liga MX.

Hate It or Love It, or as America fans shout out numerous times, “Odiame Mas”, translated to “Hate me more”, you can not deny the fact that in recent years Las Aguilas have bred many young talented players that not only rise to the occasion but make leaps to bigger club teams.

Along with the recent players that have made a notable change for America, winger Diego Lainez (now with Real Betis in Spain), defender/midfielder Edson Alvarez (now with Ajax in the Dutch league), defender Jorge Sanchez, midfielder attacker Sebastian Cordova and now the central defender Haret Ortega have all demonstrated their abilities on being playmakers on the field.

Lets also not forget that all of these players (except Ortega) have already participated in the senior team of the national team of Mexico and have starting roles when It comes to friendlies and official games against other national teams.

But Ortega could make a major splash soon after being a starter for the Miguel Herrera team due to slight injuries of the team and changes to the team scheme for the Clausura 2020. With 180 minutes with two back to back starts, Ortega recently was named the MVP of the match between America versus Xolos de Tijuana where the game ended in a clear 0-0 draw. Throughout that game Ortega had 9 clearances, 8 balls recovered, 2 defensive 1-1 battles, 1 ball won in the air and finally had 73% precision of passing. Indeed they were outstanding numbers!

What really stands out is the support and trust Herrera has offered Ortega back since he made his debut in March 2018 against Xolos in a friendly match and has slowly been considered with the first team since then. Most importantly, Ortega already carries his name with the youth teams of the national team of Mexico. One can say that Ortega could fill in the gap that Edson Alvarez left behind.

Las Aguilas de America will face FC Juarez at home, Estadio Azteca, Saturday night where both teams have similarities as both have one win, one draw and four points in total in the Liga MX standings.
