Seven weeks into the Clausura 2020, Atlas has not found their pace in the tournament leaving them as one of the low performing teams in the Liga MX.

Once again this story you might have heard it many times but Atlas continues to be one of the less threatening teams in the Liga MX and after their 2-0 loss at home, Estadio Jalisco, versus Pachuca, sunk the team of Rafael Puente Jr to the 17th position in the league standings with only 6 points. To place in perspective how bad Atlas has been so far, Pachuca had not performed well outside their home and captured their first win as a visiting team in the Clausura 2020 after going three games with a loss as visiting other teams.

Rafael Puente Jr, took charge of Los Rojinegros, in the Jornada 5 of the Clausura 2020 when Atlas faced Monarcas Morelia at home that resulted in an embarrassing 3-1 loss that had many concerns if Puente was the ideal person for Atlas in the tournament. Not only was that the only concern for Atlas but as well, the negative streak that keeps

adding to Puente’s resume as he has gone 10 games losing streak, three are the recent ones with Atlas and the last seven were with Los Gallos Blancos de Queretaro in the Clausura 2019. Since Puente has taken command in the first division of the Liga MX, his numbers are not favored and really puts in questions his career with a total of 16 wins, 11 draws, 32 losses in a total of 59 games.

Overall, everything is going just wrong for Atlas and it could possibly be worst as the tournament continues because the numbers demonstrate that Los Rojinegros has one of the low performing defensive teams in the Clausura 2020. Most importantly, it will be interested in how long will Puente continue in command from the bench due to their next few games will be tough ones as they will face Santos as the visiting team on Sunday, March 1, 2020, then will play the Clasico Tapatio facing Las Chivas Rayadas de Guadalajara and then will play Toluca and FC Juarez as the visiting team.

It is safe to say that Atlas is in deep waters and will certainly drown if nothing drastic occurs within the team. The questions are, how long will Atlas continue in a bad streak and lastly which coaches will be brought in next?
