Chivas performed well and captured their second win back to back after beating Leon 2-0 at the Estadio Akron moving Luis Fernando Tena team to the 8th spot in the league standings with 12 points. Certainly, a pleasant position for Chivas but the tournament has only half begun. After not seeing a win since nearly the start of the Clausura 2020, many fans and experts wondered if Chivas was truly equipped to be favored in the Liga MX tournament and It got to the point that Tena was being questioned his position due to the lack of poor results.

Coming into Sunday night game at the Estadio Akron, Leon was coming off a tough loss in the CONCACAF Champions League losing to Los Angeles FC, 3-0 to the hands of Carlos Vela, that dismissed La Fiera out of the tournament. With their performance, It raised many questions if they would have a decline on the field and It was demonstrated that Leon has let their foot off the pedal a tad bit and It could raise a concern to not only their fans but to coach Ignacio Ambriz.

The first half was equally paired for both teams as they went into the dressing room with a 0-0 scoreline that It was not favored to either team as both had a few opportunities on goal It almost appeared that the game would end as a draw. It was not until the 58th minute the once Leon striker, Jose Juan Macias netted the first goal for Chivas that woke the fans up in the crowds chanting, “Chivas, Chivas!”.

That goal was what Chivas needed to build their confidence as time moved on in less than 15 minutes the youngster and probably the shortest player on Chivas roster the midfielder, Fernando Beltran won a header scoring Chivas final goal of the game at the 72nd minute.

Now Chivas will move forward and play against Atlas in the Classico Tapatio on Saturday, March 7, 2020, in a game that Chivas should win as Atlas is one of the lowest-performing teams in the Clausura 2020.

Leon will visit FC Juarez and try to regain their composure in the tournament but It will not be an easy task as Los Bravos are one of the surprising teams in the Clausura 2020.
