Gerardo Martino, current coach of the national team of Mexico made a revelation that his current club team to watch is not any of the four big cub teams in the Liga MX.
While the Liga MX is currently shut down until further notice due to the coronavirus and with nine weeks left in the remainder of the Clausura 2020, Gerardo Martino recently aired his personal view on why he prefers to watch Monarcas Morelia in the current tournament. As shocking as It is, Martino did not name Club America, Chivas, Cruz Azul or Pumas as a team he follows diligently but prefers to watch Monarcas Morelia who are not even in the top eight teams in the league standings.
Monarcas Morelia currently stands in the 9th position with 14 points with 4 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses that are being led by Pablo Guede who took them to the semifinals of the Apertura 2019. Morelia is currently tied in points with Tigres who stands in the 7th place position along with FC Juarez who stands in the 8th position, the only downside of Guede’s team is the goal difference with 10 games in the tournament.
The Apertura 2019 was just a preview of Morelia level of play as they continue their march in the Clausura 2020 and we can surely say that they can become a threat once the tournament restarts. Martino also added that the players he would take into consideration for the national team of Mexico could be the defensive wing, Jose Joaquin Martinez also is known as Shaggy and holding midfielder Aldo Rocha who has 5 goals in the tournament. Rocha who has registered 900 minutes in 10 games as a starter has become a quick sensation for Morelia and Martino has kept on eye on him.
Surely, once the tournament restart we will continue to see Martino in Liga MX games as he as continuously is a viewer throughout many stadiums in Mexico in scouting for players for the national team of Mexico. As eager as we are for the Liga MX to restart we would have to wait to see Morelia’s performances on the field.
