Could Zlatan Ibrahimovic come to Liga MX?
The Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract in Italy will soon end come during the summertime and talks between the Mexican media started to suggest bringing the lethal striker to the Liga MX. And well why not, Zlatan could make a big impact in Mexico.
Just how the Liga MX has been placed in pause due to the pandemic crisis across the globe (yes we know, we get It, you are tired of reading about COVID-19), also all the European leagues on the other side of the “pond”, are still waiting for their own leagues to restart or come to full closure. In the meantime, many top European player’s contracts will come to an end where they will probably not step on the field once again due to the pandemic and leave them without a club team come once the summertime.
In the large group of European players that their contracts could finish in the summer is the international star forward, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, currently playing with one of the top remarkable club teams in Italy, AC Milan. “Ibra”, as many would call the Swedish forward is no stranger playing in the North America continent as he was part of LA Galaxy a little less than a year and a half, from March of 2018 through November 2019, scoring a well over of 50 goals in more than 50 appearances in the MLS.
David Faitelson of ESPN, recently went on air and spoke with the round table of the soccer show, Futbol Picante, and explained why It would be important for the Liga MX to bet on bringing star players like Ibrahimovic to continue bringing attraction to the league. Most importantly, It was added that a star player like “Ibra”, could make a jump into one of the top club teams in the Liga MX like Club America, Cruz Azul, Monterrey or Tigres, which could make total sense to carry an international player at that level.
Just a few minor problems, Zlatan is tiptoeing into his 40’s and as well carries many injuries that he has picked up through his career but overall his presence in the field could make a tremendous amount of impact not just in sales of tickets but the competition on the field. Another issue is which club team would want to pay a large amount of value (3.85 M according to Transfermkt) Zlatan carries, which honestly he is worth every penny. But overall, Zlatan is no stranger in having spectacular performances we have seen It throughout his career and he could continue that if he was brought to Mexico.
Down the line the way the Liga MX and the MLS continue to partner up to have various cup tournaments, it could cause a big attraction in possibly having Ibrahimovic play against the MLS club teams and meet up against LA Galaxy to face off against the Mexican star international, Javier Hernandez. Just a thought and we know we all would tune in.
What could club would you like to see the Swedish player if this move was made if indeed It happened?
