The international defensive midfielder has been in contact with various club teams in the Liga MX where he could possibly come and play once the pandemic settles down.

John Obi Mikel as a long resume and a very well respected defensive midfielder who played with top club teams in various European leagues since he made his professional debut in 2004 with the Norwegian club team Lyn at the age of 17. Mikel is currently a free agent as he left the Turkish club team, Trabzonspor in March as the pandemic starting to progress worldwide and now is searching to make a stop in the Liga MX possibly for the upcoming tournament.

It has been rumored and noted that the Nigerian international could make his way to the Liga MX as he has contacted various club teams and has caught interest in many others. Club teams like Cruz Azul, Tigres, America, and Monterrey have all sparked the interest to bring along the defensive midfielder to their team for the upcoming Apertura 2020, if all goes as planned and the pandemic certainly settles down. Although no one has confirmed any movements it is still interesting to see if Mikel certainly could make his way to the Liga MX.

Mikel holds a strong career as his stance with Chelsea is what made him a top international player as he was part of the English team for over 10 years and winning various championships. A two-time Premier League championship winner, three times winning the FA Cup, one FA Community Sheild, as well a Football League Cup and most importantly winning the UEFA Champions League with a Europa League in a span of 11 years.

Along with Mikel’s career, it could be added that the defensive midfielder has retired from his international duties for the national team of Nigeria as he played since 2005 up until 2019, playing a well over of 100 games and scoring about 10 goals.

So wherever Mikel lands a spot in the Liga MX it is certain that he could be a playmaker as the international defender could be a huge asset for any team he steps on the field.
