Mazatlan F.C twitter hacked.
After the announcement was made official that Morelia was losing their first division Liga MX side to neighboring state Sinaloa this past week, the Morelia Twitter handle was officially changed to Mazatlan F.C.
Mazatlan F.C went through and deleted any mention of the previous Morelia side on their social media Twitter. Now today the 8th of June the account seems to be “hacked”. Whether it’s a publicity stunt to garner more attention for the new club or is the new Mazatlan Twitter page being actually hacked by an angry Monarcas de Morelia fan has yet to be seen.
The team’s Twitter account when visited doesn’t have the dolphin logo that represents new-found team Mazatlan F.C but much rather has a purple empty Twitter picture and an even bigger purple banner behind it that reads “hacked”. With only a few retweets from random pages like @cesarqbucio and earlier retweets being retweets from their 2014 Copa de Libertadores run and a tweet from the 2016 final game of 2016 Clausura vs. Monterrey where they avoided relegation.
We wait to see whether this is a joke or hacktivism at it’s finest, but Morelia has been in the news recently or previous players of the Club wanting to bring back the team to the first division with a 2 year period in a development league and not Liga Bolompie. To restore the team to the city, but this is all just speculation from some previous players and they currently don’t have anything concrete set up with the state of Michoacan, but seeing as to how easy and how cheaply the team was sold off to Mazatlan, one has to question how much Morelia and the state of Michoacan as a whole would want another team so quickly.
The team was important to Liga MX and with rumors of Queretaro moving to Mexico City and being renamed Atlante F.C, anything is possible and just because it’s a rumor doesn’t mean it won’t happen. If we have learned anything in the past few weeks it’s that nothing is sacred when it comes to money in Liga MX.
