Santos has not received much praise during the pandemic as they have slowly gathered new set players for the upcoming tournament and could possibly shock many.
We are less than a week and a half for the new tournament to being, which is now being called Guard1anes 2020 in the Liga MX and a lot of news has transpired in the recent months and one team, in particular, has almost made a 180-degree turn in their roster and also most importantly have a new designated captain for the team in Julio Furch.
Although to the new addition of players such as Gibran Lajud, Gael Sandoval, Ronaldo Prieto, Manu Balda, Ismael Govea, and Beto Ocejo, Santos will have a huge hole on the field as their star player, midfielder Brian Lozano will be out of the tournament due to an injury that could make an impact moving forward in the Liga MX tournament. Along with Lozano being out of the team due to an injury, Santos will also have a new goalkeeper in the back as the veteran goalkeeper Jonathan Orozco will no longer wear the green and white colors of Los Laguneros but now will be defending Xolos for the years to come.
We can say that’s the good and bad news of Santos but the most revealing news that recently was aired out through Santos social media was their new team captain for the Guard1anes 2020 tournament, none other than Julio Furch, the forward that has been a consistent player for the team since 2017.
Furch has been an important role player for Santos as he has lifted a trophy with Santos in the Clausura 2018 defeating Toluca and also having scored 164 goals in a span of 145 games in the last four years. We can definitely agree that Furch deserves the armband!
Santos will make their debut in the Guard1anes 2020 tournament on Saturday, July 25, 2020, facing Cruz Azul as the visiting team, a game that surely will have a lot of competitiveness in 90 minutes!
