A big announcement was made from the Liga MX that there will not be a champion team that will defend their trophy going into the Guard1anes 2020 tournament, which left many in shock but truthfully it makes sense.

Certainly, we can not take any credit away from Rayados de Monterrey lifting the championship trophy in the Apertura 2019 where they were the surprising team that came in the 8th place in the league standings and beating America in penalty shoot in the final of the Apertura 2019. So yes, Rayados deserved to show off their winning patch throughout the Clausura 2020 but that now will stay behind in Clausura 2020 tournament as they no longer will be the defending team going into the Guard1anes 2020.

We know by now that the Clausura 2020 ending prematurely as the pandemic of the COVID-19 affected not only the Liga MX but the country of Mexico where Rayados de Monterrey made a negative full 180-degree turn and was dead last in the league standings without one win, which was shocking. In the end, no team was crowned as the champions due to the ending of the tournament so it makes sense on why the Liga MX will not have a defending team going into the Guard1anes 2020.

But overall, La Pandilla fans do not want to remember how their team defending the title in the Clausura 2020, as it was embarrassing and question if whether it was luck or pure skill winning the Apertura 2019 tournament.

Rayados de Monterrey will start the Guard1anes 2020 tournament facing Toluca on Tuesday as their game was moved from their regular schedule that was supposed to take place on Saturday but it all changed due to Tropical Storm that pushed into Mexico a few days ago.

Arteaga is going to Europe!. dark. Next

So let’s hope that Rayados will start the Guard1anes 2020 tournament in the right direction because they can not have another uneventful tournament or their fans will demand “justice” on the entire team.
