In the twelfth match day of the Guard1anes 2020 features the Clásico Regiomontano between Monterrey hosting Tigres. This match, like any other, promises to be entertaining.

This Guardianes 2020 Clásico Regiomontano has Monterrey hosting their cross-town rivals Tigres at the BBVA Stadium. Both teams seek to move up the ranks and defeat their major opponent. Both Monterrey and Tigres share the same amount of points with 17 apiece. The only thing that separates them is that Monterrey has conceded two more goals than Tigres for a total of 13 goals.

Both teams have the same amount of goals, but French striker André-Pierre Gignac is the second leading goalscorer, having found the back of the net eight times this season. Gignac (34) always poses a threat when playing Monterrey, having scored three goals in the last ten games. Gignac has not been in the most excellent form lately, failing to score in the previous three disputed games; indeed, we will see him celebrate one of his Saturday night goals.

For Monterrey, under “El Turco” Mohammed, he counts on the abilities of Rogelio Funes Mori, Vincent Janssen, and Maximiliano Meza. Not counting Ake Loba, who, alongside Funes Mori has scored a total of seven goals between the both of them. This Clásico Regiomontano will be an entertaining game given that both teams have different goal scorers to put their side ahead.

Both sides have been leveled in recent games. Tigres has the slight advantage of three wins against Monterrey’s two in 10 disputed games. El “Tuca” Ferretti will have to plan a perfect match if he and his team want to move up a spot in the general standings. With just five games left after this one, any mistake or drop of points could come with a severe cost. Both teams will have to be tuned in and not make the mistake that could lead to a possible elimination from the playoffs.

Given that teams have more chances to make the playoffs, being in the bottom eight seeds of the playoffs is not sufficient for these teams who are always title contenders. This Clásico Regiomontano will be one to write for the history books.
