Toluca are crowned Liga MX champions for the second time this year and have become the fifth team to win the Bicampeonato. Toluca defeated Tigres 9-8 on penalties, and Alexis Vega scored the decisive penalty for the 'Diablos Rojos'.
Vega was not fit enough to start the match and was on the bench until the second half. Antonio Mohamed decided to bring Vega onto the pitch in the 80th minute.
Toluca won 2-1 in regular time, but the match was 2-2 on aggregate. The match went to extra time, and Vega played all 30 extra minutes.
Vega took two penalties and scored both in the penalty shootout, with the second being the title-winning penalty.

After the match, Vega expressed his love for Toluca and looks on to the Clausura 2026, with starts in early January. What suprised many fans is his message for Chivas, his former club.
Many believe that Vega and Chivas have a broken relationship, but the Mexican star appears to showcase love for his former club.
Alexis Vega's Message for Chivas Fans
Not only was the Toluca Bicampeonato special for Vega because of his love for Toluca, but also for completing his revenge over Tigres.
Vega recalls losing the 2023 Clausura with Chivas against Tigres at the Estadio Akron. Vega played 61 minutes for Chivas in that final, but Tigres won the match with a dramatic extra-time winner by now Tigres manager Guido Pizarro.
After Toluca's win over Tigres last night, Vega said, "Tigres owed me one, and they took it from me with my Chivas, we couldn't lift [the trophy] there in the Akron… this one's for all the Chivahermanos, who have been with me."
Toluca has now tied Chivas on league titles, as both clubs are on 12. Toluca won four trophies this year: Clausura 2025, Campeón de Campeones, Campeones Cup, and Apertura 2025.
