One of the best Mexican players playing in Europe is defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez, and he may be on his way out of West Ham United. Alvarez joined the Premier League side in 2023 but has played fewer minutes over time.

Alvarez was benched in West Ham's Premier League opener against Sunderland, where the Hammers lost 3-0 away from home. Over the last few days, Alvarez has been linked to a move to Fenerbahce, and a deal has been getting closer.

Fabrizio Romano reported that Alvarez would join the Turkish club on a loan with Fenerbahce having the option to buy. Romano reported that the transfer of Alvarez to Fenerbahce could be done quickly, and the move could be made today.

New reports from Turkey suggest that the move would not be that easy, and the transfer could be at risk as big European clubs have shown interest in signing the Mexican midfielder this summer.

Three Prestigious Clubs Show Interest in Edson Alvarez

According to Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and FC Porto are interested in signing Alvarez this summer. The report suggests that all three clubs made official offers for Alvarez.

Alvarez is reportedly considering these three options before deciding to join Fenerbahce. The Turkish club has already agreed terms with West Ham for the transfer of the Mexican midfielder. It is also reported that Jose Mourinho wants to bring the player in this summer.

According to Fernando Esquivel, Jose Mourinho already spoke to Alvarez about his plans for the player. The Portuguese manager is trying to convince the player to join. The Turkish club may pay up to 20 million euros for Alvarez if they decide to sign the midfielder permanently.
