Pau López announced his departure from Girona to join the ranks at Antonio Mohamed's Toluca.

The 30-year-old made three appearances for the club following a loan move from Marseille in the summer. Most recently, he was in between the sticks against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League where López was able to deny Raheem Sterling from the penalty spot.

Manager Míchel opted against López being his first-choice, choosing Argentine Paulo Gazzaniga, sparking rumours that the French club would recall the goalkeeper to send him on another loan move for more regular minutes.

As is the case, López accepted the deal to join Los Diablos Rojos in a believed loan move until the end of the Clausura campaign.

He joins a Toluca side which finished second in the Apertura before crashing out of the Playoffs in the quarterfinals to Club América. The side had a change of managers during the winter, replacing Renato Paiva for Mohamed, who searches for a fourth Liga MX title following triumphs with América, Monterrey and Tijuana.

López will join an exciting group of players, watching on as the weekend as his future teammates recorded a last minute winner against fellow title contenders Tigres.

Will López help bring a first league title to Toluca since 2011? Let us know what you think!
