César Huerta, 23, was heavy linked with moves away from Pumas this summer.

Earlier in the summer, Viva Liga MX said that the winger was rumoured with moves to the Greek SuperLiga, the Bundesliga, and UEFA Champions League Girona.

In the last week of the transfer window, reports broke that five-time Champions League winners Liverpool FC were in talks with the Liga MX side for his services.

Under new manager Arne Slot, the club has managed just two signings with Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili agreeing to join the club next summer. Meanwhile, Federico Chiesa joins the club immediately from Italian giants Juventus.

The deal fell through due to a contract disagreement regarding the winger. Although Pumas remain open to continuing discussions about Huerta's sale, his dream move won't happen just yet, especially with the transfer window closing in a matter of hours.

Whilst the deal for Huerta to move to Liverpool ultimately failed, ESPN tells that the Premier League club will continue to follow the winger for a potential move in January.

As one of the brightest young talents in Mexican football, many anticipate that the attacker will make a move to Europe within the next few transfer windows, especially since his transfer to Liverpool nearly materialised.

Now, he will prepare to face Tigres at the Estadio Universitario at lunchtime on Sunday.
