It is March 22 and as the weather turns the Clausura starts to heat up. According to FlashScore Monterrey leads Liga MX in wins at eight and in the standings with three more points than Club América as they lead with 28.
Toluca is in third place. Cruz Azul and Pachuca are tied for fourth right behind them. None of them are quite as close to the top as Club América who stands within a win of first place.
The latter of the two in the Pachuca and Cruz Azul tiebreaker would head to the early portion of the playoffs to fight for survival. The following few teams below them are in line for the Play-offs. Those teams consist of Necaxa, Tigres UANL, León, Querétero, Chivas de Guadalajara, Santos Laguna and Pumas UNAM.
Just below that are the teams in jeopardy of having no extra postseason games (at least there is no worry of relegation for this season). The closest of those teams is San Luis at just one point out of contention. Below them sits a few teams with some life in Atlas, Mazatlán and Club Tijuana. Below that are basement dwellers Puebla and Juárez who could technically move up but it would take several wins.
Upcoming games should help to shake up or further show who sits where in the Liga MX Clausura standings. The next match is Juárez and Puebla. After that are matches between Puebla and Tigres UANL, Club América and San Luis, Mazatlán and Club Tijuana, Monterrey and Chivas de Guadalajara, Pachuca verses Toluca, Pumas UNAM verses Cruz Azul, Atlas and Querétero, Necaxa and León, and Juárez plays Santos Laguna. Those matches and more will shake up Liga MX.
