The match from January 31 went 2-2 to the end.

Football Ant has evidence to show why the score got and stayed that way. Even through a late red from Cortéz Álvarez of Necaxa threatened to change the match no more goals were made.

Part of the late scoring problem for Necaxa would be extremely low possession rate. They were only in charge of the ball for twenty eight percent of the time. For Pumas it was quality of shots, frequent penalties, and improved goaltending.
