Mexico, especially Mexico City, has and will again play host to NFL games per NBC Sports Pro Football Talk. When will this happen again? Is their any tread towards getting a team in Mexico? It will host again but so far the second question has an answer of no; but that was the case for Las Vegas until the tables suddenly turned.

So what will it take to land a team in Mexico? Well just to play again there will be a wait. This is because the plan is to again play at Estadio Azteca where renovations will not be done in time for the 2024 NFL season.

The NFL has played games in Mexico before. This was in 2005, 2016, 2017 and 2022. The NFL will look to Central America and South America to fill the void before it returns. The renovations should be pretty good to the stadium seeing as it is in preparation for the World Cup in 2026. This will make it the only stadium to host the FIFA World Cup three times.

The first Mexico NFL matchup featured the Cardinals and 49ers. The Raiders later would play the Texans. Next, the Patriots would play the Raiders. The 2018 Rams Chiefs matchup was almost played in Mexico before being moved to Los Angeles. The next game would feature the Chiefs and Chargers. The 2022 game was 49ers Cardinals again. There have also been seven preseason games in the NFL.
