Power Rankings March 11
Much of the Liga MX has played eleven games. According to Goal.com the only two teams that have yet to play game eleven are Puebla and Juárez. With the win Puebla could move up and Juárez would also have a chance to gain some ground in the points.
1. Monterrey comes in at one. They have the most points in the league at 25. Club América is closing in on them.
2. Club América is hot on the trail of number one Monterrey. They won the last title and look to hold strong again.
3. Pachuca is tied with Cruz Azul for third in points. I prefer what Pachuca has done due to them scoring more goals.
4. Cruz Azul has a nice defense. Cruz Azul sits in a two way tie for third. Necaxa is their next opponent.
5. Toluca has twenty points and is in fifth place. Next Toluca faces Pumas UNAM.
6. Necaxa is tied for sixth with Tigres. Necaxa has scored four more goals and finds themselves at six on the list.
7. Tigres UANL is at seven on this list and tied for sixth place in Liga MX. They play Puebla next in league play; before that Orlando City will challenge them in the CONCACAF tournament.
8. Pumas UNAM is at eight with sixteen points. They play Toluca next as they hope to rebound from a tough 3-0 loss to number one Monterrey.
9. Ninth is Chivas Guadalajara. It is hard to describe them other than middle of the pack.
10. Querétero is tied for tenth. They have a positive goal differential unlike León so they get my nod for spot ten.
11. León comes in at number eleven. León is tied with Querétero with points but with a negative goal differential there are signs that they may be headed downwards.
12. Santos Laguna is alone in twelfth place. They play Tijuana as they find themselves seeking a third win in a row.
13. Atlas is tied for thirteenth with San Luis. Atlas is three points or one win behind Santos Laguna for the last Final Series Play-off spot.
14. San Luis allows a lot of goals. They find themselves in fourteenth place on the list and tied for thirteenth in Liga MX. The next match for them is verses Pachuca.
15. Mazatlán is in a disappointing fifteenth place. They placed tenth in the last season of play. The end of the season may be sweet relief when it comes in a few short months.
16. Tijuana is a few places behind where they were last season. Either way, they just are not that talented.
17. Puebla is in second to last. Their upcoming match against Juárez may decide a lot about the bottom of Liga MX.
18. Juárez holds steady at rank eighteen. There is not much to say for the last place team. They play Querétero and then seventeenth place Puebla soon.
