Here in the Clausura every game counts. This game couldn't portray that more. As Soccerway shows, Pumas really showed they wanted this one to the tune of three goals to none.
G. Martínez netted the first goal in minute 24. It was assisted from a set piece just outside the big box. The goalscorer was just a step onside.
Goal number two was headed in off of a corner kick. It was a beautifully played ball that aired straight out to the top center of the goal box. From their a downward angled header scored it into the lower right corner of the net past a ready but overtaken keeper.
The third goal came with two great passes before it. The ball was first dribbled all the way out to just inside the left corner. Then it was played in to the left corner of the goal box. From their after it should have been stolen away, the ball was recovered and played back across to the penalty spot. Then the virtual penalty kick was one timed into the net. Here this can be seen at TUDN along with full game highlights.
That would be how all the scores went down. Although in minute 71 Santos Laguna did play a wonderful kick into the inside part of the right crossbar before it bounced away. That would have went in beating the keeper's reach. So no more goals were added in the match
What is next for these two clubs in Liga MX play? Pumas UNAM takes on Chivas de Guadalajara on Saturday, February 24. For Santos Laguna, they play on Wednesday, February 21 against Toluca and again Sunday, February 25 versus Mazatlán.
