Days ahead before the start of the mini-tournament, “Copa por Mexico”, Cruz Azul have announced that various players, coaching staff, and other members of the team test positive for the ongoing virus.

The “Copa por Mexico” is just a few days ahead to start and already chaos has erupted due to the ongoing pandemic that is going on across the world and now the uncertainty has hit one of the eight teams that will participate in the tournament. Are you surprised that it is none other than Cruz Azul? A few days ago it was reported that at least eight members in the entire club team, players, coaches, and trainers were tested positive for COVID-19.

Although no names were mentioned it was noted that the current coach of La Maquina, Roberto Siboldi was possible one of the eight that were tested positive for the ongoing virus. As the preseason tournament is just a few days ago, several club teams have mentioned that they are not “concerned entirely” for the eight cases La Maquina has going on in their club which to many it could be shocking. But Siboldi has mentioned that the eight members of the club team are isolated and are being monitored daily to make sure they overcome the virus as healthy as possible.

La Maquina is in Group A along with America, Toluca, and Pumas where Cruz Azul’s first game will take place this Saturday on July 4th facing Pumas UNAM as both teams will demonstrate if they will be ready for the upcoming Liga MX tournament, the Apertura 2020.  Certainly, the FMF will take drastic measures throughout the preseason tournament to make sure the safety of all the players and coaches are taken care of properly so the pandemic does not erupt or better yet pause the “Copa por Mexico”.
