Cruz Azul 2-1 Club América
Matchday 13's highlight fixture came at the Estadio Universitario, in Mexico City, as Cruz Azul welcomed rivals Club América for the latest edition of the Clásico Jovén.
Cruz Azul started the game on the front foot, moving the ball with confidence and denying their visitors much time in possession. But against the run of play, América took the lead when Brían Rodríguez was gifted a close-range opportunity to beat Andrés Gudiño. As expected, Nicolás Larcamón’s men came back fighting, and, as the saying goes, 'you’re most vulnerable right after scoring'. Just two minutes later, La Máquina were back in the game as Gabriel Fernández rounded Luis Malagón and sent the stadium into delirium.

As the first half concluded and the second got underway, the teams were locked even. That was until a stroke of genius from second-half substitute Ignacio Rivero caught Malagón by surprise as the Uruguayan's curling effort left the Mexican first-choice goalkeeper stunned, giving Cruz Azul the lead for the first time in the game.
From the moment La Máquina took the lead, they never looked like giving it up. André Jardine's side struggled to test the Azul back line as they remained strong and organised until the final whistle.
The result moves Cruz Azul above their rivals, into second place and three points behind the league leaders, Toluca.
