Headlines of the pitch stole the show this weekend, especially at Club América, where Álvaro Fidalgo and Allan Saint-Maximim announced their exits from the club.
On the pitch, Las Águilas picked up a first win of the season as Chivas maintained their 100% record in 2026.
Some shock draws for Toluca and Monterrey raise some eyebrows, but game of the week came on the border as Juárez faced Cruz Azul.
Friday 30th January 2026
Puebla 0-0 Toluca
It was the Apertura's best against the worst to open the weekend action with 10-men Puebla held onto a valuable point against the league's top team.
The result was made even more impressive when the visitors were awarded a penalty, only for Sebastián Córdova to miss.
Pumas 4-0 Santos Laguna
Pumas ran rampant, scoring all four goals in the first half. The performance was marked with a Jordan Carrillo double, with Adalberto Carrasquilla and Alan Medina adding to the Los Guerreros woes.
Juárez 3-4 Cruz Azul
Fans were spoiled to seven goals in the north, but La Máquina were expecting to be home and hosed when they took a three-goal lead by the 40th minute, but two goals in the last ten minutes made Azul fans sweat, before managing to avoid embarrassment.

Saturday 31st January 2026

América had to deal with some noticeable absentees, but it was a Brían Rodríguez thunderbolt which stole the show, scoring the club's first goal of the year before setting Victor Davila moments later to seal the points.
Atlas 1-0 Mazatlán
Uroš Đurđević is set for an Atlas exit this week, but made an impact in potentially his final outing in red and black, by scoring an early goal to seal all three points.
San Luis 2-3 Chivas
Los Rojiblancos became the only side to win all four games of the season with a narrow victory over San Luis with Armando 'Hormiga' González making it three goals in four matches.

Monterrey came from behind twice to salvage a point against Los Xolos as new signing Luca Orellana scored a 30-yard screamer to peg Tijuana back for the second time in the game.
León 1-2 Tigres
Goals from Diego Laínez and Marcelo Flores meant maximum points were heading back to Monterrey this weekend, despite a second goal of the season for Diber Cambindo.
