Marcel Ruiz, 24, has changed his stance of a move to Palmeiras, after initally rejecting the move.

Earlier in the window, Ruiz remained focused on a move to Europe, with interest from France and Germany, but the only formal bid for the player came from the English second division, from Ipswich Town.

Amid transfer talks, Ruiz has continued to play at a high level, helping Toluca qualify for the knockout rounds of the League Cup, whilst starting the Liga MX season with two goals and an assist in his first two appearances.

Palmeiras' desire to sign the central midfielder has remained throughout the summer as they look to replace Richard Ríos, who made a $30 million move to Portuguese giants Benfica.

Now, with a lack of offers from Europe, it's reported that Ruiz has become open to a move to the Brasileirão Serie A with a fee of $10 million being agreed between the two sides.

Ruiz may have given a green light to the move, but Toluca boss Antonio Mohamed remains certain that the Mexican international will stay in the Liga MX by the end of the transfer window, stating:

"The last thing I spoke to him about was that he's going to stay here; he's very happy here."

It has become the biggest saga in Mexican football right now, with the reigning Liga MX champions hoping to keep hold of their biggest stars for a chance at retaining the title.
