Puebla decided to part ways with head coach Pablo Guede following last night's narrow defeat to Atletico San Luis.
Formerly of Tijuana and Necaxa, Guede took charge of Puebla in January, ahead of the 2025 Liga MX Clausura.
His first campaign proved difficult as Puebla finished 17th, only worsened by Santos Laguna at the foot of the table, recording two wins from 17 matches.
Defeats against Atlas and Mazatlán at the start of this season put pressure on Guede's position, but an impressive Leagues Cup display, which has seen the club reach its first-ever knockout berth, reignited hopes that Guede can turn the tide.
Since returning to Liga MX duty, La Franja have struggled to maintain their cup form. Suffering a crushing 7-0 defeat to Tigres in their first game back after the Leagues Cup, the writing was on the wall, only for the team to lose 2-0 against San Luis in front of their own fans.
Guede’s exit comes as little surprise, with the Argentine managing just a 20% win rate and suffering 17 defeats in his 25 matches at the helm.
Puebla have announced that Martín Bravo will take charge as interim manager, with his first task being to guide the team into the Leagues Cup quarter-final against the Seattle Sounders on Wednesday evening.
