Pachuca Femenil was crowned Campeón de Campeonas 2025 after defeating Monterrey 1–0 at Toyota Field in San Antonio, Texas, on Wednesday 16 of July, 2025.

The only goal of the match came in the 53rd minute, when Nina Nicosia intercepted the ball in the final third and calmly finished past goalkeeper Pamela Tajonar, securing Pachuca’s first-ever Campeón de Campeonas title.

Bringing together the champions of the Liga MX Femenil’s Apertura and Clausura tournaments, Monterrey (Apertura) and Pachuca (Clausura) faced off in a one-off match in the United States, with the last official title of the 2024–25 season on the line.

Pachuca had recently claimed their first-ever league championship in May, winning the Clausura, and this new trophy capped off a remarkable term for the club.

On the other hand, Monterrey, champions of the Apertura 2024, arrived with high expectations but fell short of adding this title to their cabinet.

Preparations for the Final

Monterrey came into the final following a tough 4–0 loss to Pumas at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario. The Rayadas struggled to find rhythm or scoring opportunities and, after a grueling preseason and a lineup missing key starters, their matchday 1 performance exposed areas for improvement.

The team will look to bounce back during the tournament with the help of their new signings.

Rayadas' Reinforcements:

  • Allison Veloz (forward, from Necaxa)
  • Juana Plata (midfielder, returning after a stint with Cruz Azul)
  • Ashlyn Fernández (center back, ex-Tulsa Golden Hurricane)
  • Emily Gielnik (forward, from Melbourne Victory / Australia)
  • Day Silva (defender, from São Paulo)

Meanwhile, Pachuca opened the Apertura 2025 with an emphatic 5–1 away win over Puebla at Estadio Cuauhtémoc. Las Tuzas looked strong, cohesive, and energized with new additions who immediately improved the team’s overall play. The match showcased not only their offensive firepower but also their defensive discipline. Their forwards returned to scoring form, getting the title defense off to a perfect start.

Pachuca's Reinforcements:

  • Jocelyn Orejel (defender, from Club América)
  • Natalia Mauleón (midfielder, from Club América)
  • Stefani Jiménez (goalkeeper, from Tijuana)
  • Paola García (forward, from Atlas)

Key Reinforcements and Their Impact in the Final

1. Jocelyn Orejel

  • Signed from Club América after five years at the club, known for her reliability and strength at the back.
  • Brought stability to a defensive line that conceded only 14 goals last season.
  • In San Antonio, she bolstered the backline, showing leadership and helping secure a clean sheet against a dangerous Monterrey attack.
  • Impact: A key figure in maintaining defensive order, Orejel’s presence was crucial to preserving the 1–0 lead.

2. Natalia Mauleón

  • An attacking midfielder also joining from América with strong ball recovery and playmaking abilities.
  • Played a major role in the midfield by recovering possession and initiating transitions.
  • Impact: Mauleón helped control the tempo of the match and played a part in the buildup to the decisive goal by Nina Nicosia.

Pachuca Femenil’s triumph in the Campeón de Campeonas 2025 not only marks a historic milestone with their first title in the competition, but also highlights the immediate impact of their new signings.

The team showed solidity, determination, and collective effort, combining an experienced core with reinforcements who stepped up when it mattered most. With this victory, Las Tuzas cement their place among the elite of Mexican women’s football and send a clear message heading into the Apertura: they are ready to keep making history.
