After a couple of weeks out due to an ankle injury, Santiago Giménez underwent ankle surgery that will keep him out for nearly two months.
AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri confirmed that the Mexican striker would undergo ankle surgery a few days ago. Allegri said, "Giménez underwent conservative therapy for a while, but in recent days the situation worsened and, after a consultation, the decision was made to operate."
Today, December 19, 2025, Giménez successfully underwent ankle surgery in the Netherlands, and the Mexican striker wrote a message to his fans on his social media page. Giménez sounded optimistic and looks forward to returning soon.

LET'S GO ALL OUT!!!"
Many reports in Italy suggest that Giménez will be back in February, but Mexican national team fans are hopeful he can find match fitness and condition ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Mexico Friendlies Santiago Giménez will miss
Mexico will play three friendly matches at the start of 2026 that will not be part of the FIFA international breaks. Mexico will play against Panama and Bolivia in January and then against Iceland in February.
These three friendly matches are confirmed to be for Liga MX players, which would have ruled out Santiago Giménez and other players who play in Europe anyway.
Santiago Giménez may be back in time for the March friendly matches against Portugal and Belgium, which are set for late March.
Do you think Santiago Giménez will be fit enough to make an impact for Mexico's friendly matches against Portugal and Belgium?
