Chivas confirmed that Javier 'Chicharito' Hernández has left the club, and the Mexican striker is currently a free agent. The 37-year-old striker was rumored to join another club next year, but with the new year arriving very soon, Hernández may consider other options.
Hernández played seven games for Chivas in the 2025 Apertura and played in the two legs of the quarterfinals against Cruz Azul in the Liguilla.
Chicharito played 14 minutes against Cruz Azul on November 30th, the second leg of the quarterfinal. Hernández missed a crucial penalty in the 84th minute that could've sent Chivas to the semifinals.
Despite the poor end to his second time at Chivas, Hernández was rumored to potentially play in the second division of English football, the Championship, in 2026.
New reports suggest that Hernández may take a bold turn within football, which would lead to his retirement from professional football.
Javier Hernández set to be a football pundit
Juan Pablo Fernández tweeted that Javier Hernández would become a football pundit for ESPN if he couldn't find a new club in January. Many fans couldn't believe this report, but Fernández retweeted the post, suggesting it could be true.
Tanto la compra de Morelia a Puebla, como la llegada de Juan Carlos Rodríguez “la bomba” a ESPN, son ambas notas FALSAS.
