Sergio Ramos is arguably the biggest star in Liga MX due to his legendary status in football after many years with Real Madrid in Europe. The former World Champion with Spain has spent 2025 in Mexico with Monterrey.
Ramos' move to Monterrey shocked many as many thought the 39 year old would retire at Sevilla. The Spanish defender may still continue his career in football and he may do so in Mexico.
Ramos' contract with Monterrey expires at the end of the Apertura 2025 season, in December. In an short interview with El Chiringuito TV in Mexico, Ramos revealed that he is very happy at Monterrey and his future may extend longer.
When asked about his contract, Ramos confirmed that it will expire in late December and expressed his love for Mexico and for Monterrey.
Sergio Ramos to continue another year in Monterrey?
Ramos mentions to be hopeful to continue at Monterrey since he and his family are comfortable in Mexico and the player believes in the Monterrey project.

Ramos' love for Mexico and the club could potentially see him stay for another year, where the Spanish defender will turn 40 in March.

Ramos has made 26 apperances for Monterrey since his arrival in Ferbrary. He scored seven goals for the club which included in competitions like Liga MX, the CONCACAF Champions Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Ramos has played and started in 11 matches for Monterrey in the 2025 Apertura, where he has two goals this season.
