León 2, Querétaro 1

Héctor Mascorro recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Esmeraldas to their first win of the season after a disappointing 0-0-2 start to the league season and a 4-3 loss at Zacatecas in last week’s Copa clash.

Mascorro lofted a cross over the defense in minute 29 that skipper Mauro Boselli chested into the goal at the back post for his 100th goal in Mexico. The 21-year-old winger then scored for himself, racing down the right flank to collect a nifty lead pass by Walter González then slotting home past the goalie inside the right post.

Javier Guemez scored for the Gallos Blancos just before the final whistle to make the final result more respectable.

León and Zacatecas each have 3 points in Group 3 with Querétaro set to host Zacatecas on Aug.
