Santos Laguna have released a press statement this afternoon announcing that Robert Siboldi has resigned along with his entire coaching staff.
This will no doubt come as a heavy blow for fans after Siboldi lead Santos to their first league title in three years.

Whilst the details surrounding the incident have yet to be released but it appears that a dispute between a player and Siboldi’s coaching staff has culminated in the resignation. The press release reads:
"It has recently come to the attention of the institution a number of differences between the current coaching staff, which ultimately resulted in a conflict with a player. These differences have broken a code of ethics within the club, generating an environment not conducive to a postive team performance, and which go against the philosophy and values of Club Santos Laguna. For this reason, the current coaching staff has decided to resign, recognizing the seriousness of its actions and emissions, and club has accepted its resignation, effective immediately."
The club have announced that Salvador Reyes will now take over from Siboldi as head coach. However, it is not clear whether this will be on a temporary or a permanent basis.
Rafael Figueroa has also been named as assistant coach and will be familiar to Santos fans as the defender amassed more than 200 caps for the club in a career which spanned over 10 years.
The club have announced that a press conference will be held at 16:45 this afternoon to provide further information.
It will be fascinating to see what comes out of the press conference, if anything. If there was a conflict between the coach and players, was this one of many? It’s unlikely we will get all the details we want, but hopefully the press conference provides us with the information to make sense of the seeming sudden turn of events.
UPDATE: The player involved in the altercation was Gerardo Alcoba, who took responsibility at the Santos presser. Alcoba, as far as we know, will remain with the team, despite his role in the event. No word on what the altercation was over.
