The Chilean midfield star has said he would love to play for Club America if he made his way to Liga MX.

After Chile fell 3-0 to Peru, Arturo Vidal made some headlines for Liga MX and Club America fans, telling Univision he would entertain the idea of coming to play in Mexico if an “important team” would have him. He went on to say, “It would really be a pleasure to come to Mexico to play for a club like América. América is a good team, a nice team, I would love it.”

Vidal is focused on his time at Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga and is under contract until 2021 with the Catalonian giants, but said he’s always open to ideas about his future and noted Mexico as a country he likes.

At 31 years old, it’s hard to envision Vidal and the amount of money he might command actually ending up in Mexico City with Las Aguilas. Vidal made the move from Bayern Munich to Barcelona this summer and has not been able to find much playing time since then. He is obviously upset about this and dreaming about new horizons.

He’s been one of the world’s best midfielders since his days with Juventus and was even a major player with Bayer Leverkusen and Colo-Colo, before that. Vidal still has a few impactful years left in Europe and should figure into Barca’s plans for UEFA Champions League play, coming of a year with Bayern Munich that saw him accumulate 6 goals in 35 appearances. “King Arturo” also maintains a major role with the Chilean national team with 100+ caps and over 20 goals for his home country.

If Vidal could come to Mexico before he turns 35, however, America might be wise to take him at his word and reach out. Unless they’re willing to shell-out a significant amount of money, America will simply take the mention as a big compliment.
