Liga MX Femenil finished up their quarterfinals and now look ahead to tasty semifinal match-ups.

Monday night wrapped up the Quarter-finals of the Liga MX Femenil Liguilla Apertura. The defending champions, Tigres battled Atlas to a 0-0 draw in the late game, while Pachuca throttled Pumas UNAM 5-1 in their match.

Pachuca advance past Pumas

Coming into Monday night, Pachuca led the tie 1-0.  Pumas’ Edna Santamaria opened the scoring in the 20th minute, giving Pumas the lead to move on with an advantage in away goals. However, in the 40th minute Monica Ocampo tied the match and gave Pachuca back the lead to move on at the half.  Three minutes after halftime, an own-goal from Pumas’ Deneva Cagigas gave Pachuca a 2-1 lead in the match, and then the wheels came off UNAM.  Ocampo scored her second of the match in minute 64, followed by goals from Esbeydi Salazar and Estefany Hernandez in minutes 75 and 82 to end the match 5-1 and advanced Pachuca to the semifinals 6-1 on aggregate.

Tigres stymie Atlas

Tigres took the first leg 2-1 and so Atlas would need to win 2-1 at least, in order to advance. Goalkeeper  Ana Gaby Paz did all she could to keep Atlas in the match, making a few nice saves on her way to a clean sheet. Unfortunately for Atlas, though, Alejandra Gutierrez made some nice saves of her own, including a save on a shot from Areli Martinez from a free-kick that she was able to get a finger to, pushing it off the crossbar and keeping Los Zorros off the scoreboard. It was a thrilling match that ultimately saw Tigres move on to defend their title with a 2-1 aggregate scoreline.

Chivas advances past Monterrey

After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, Chivas hosted Monterrey in the second leg on Sunday night.  No one was able to score in this one and so Chivas advanced on away goals. Not much else to share in this one, except that Chivas will now face off with Tigres in a match between the last two league winners, with a trip to the 2018 Apertura final on the line.

America rides hot start to dispatch Toluca

Just two minutes into the match Lucero Cuevas scored for Las Aguilas, putting them up 1-0 in the match and 3-2 on aggregate after the first leg ended in a 2-2 draw. Daniela Espinosa added another goal in the 13th minute and tacked on a 3rd America goal in the 39th to send America to a commanding 5-2 aggregate lead. Mariel Roman was able to bring Toluca a goal closer before halftime with her goal in the 43rd minute, but the hill was too high to climb at that point. America was able to salt the match away in the second half and advance to the Apertura 2018 semifinals.
