Leader Monterrey faces test against surprising Club Leon
By Dan Chapman
The Rayados annihilated Pachuca in last week’s season opener, and now face a Leon club that surprised the pundits by earning draw against Tigres.
Monterrey is flying high following their convincing rout of Pachuca in their first game of the Clausura 2019 tournament and they will be eager to reinforce their claim to be considered a genuine title contender.
This Saturday, the Rayados face a Club Leon side that managed a surprising draw against Tigres in the season opener. This will provide Monterrey with a degree of pause, so they will not be underestimating their Matchday 2 opponents.
Club Leon will be confident to get a result from this game and will push Monterrey as hard as the can.
Previous Game
Beating Pachuca 5-0, Monterrey showed a level of dominance and control that they will want to try and maintain. Monterrey intends to prove that they are the real deal and will want to cement their position as one of the best teams in the league.
Pachuca are not a bad team and the result will have deeply shocked them, as it did most Liga MX fans and therefore we cannot say Monterrey had an easy game, despite the scoreline.

Key Players
Attacking players like Aviles Hurtado were extremely key for Monterrey vs Pachuca and the club will obviously want them to continue their good form.
Young Mexican midfielder Jonathan Gonzalez scored against Pachuca and he will also be aiming to regain his good form after returning from injury that ended his Apertura season prematurely. He is a big prospect for Team Mexico and it’s important that he has a big season. He might even attract European club interest.
Prediction
On the face of it, considering their first game against Tigres, it is easy to think Club Leon will get a result from this game too, maybe a draw. Monterrey’s dominance against Pachuca was no fluke and it will continue here. Maybe León gets a goal, but I doubt it.
