Monterrey look to bounce back against Gallos Blancos
By Dan Chapman
After a disappointing 2-2 draw against Club Leon last week, Los Rayados will hope to get back on the winning track against Queretaro.
The Gallos Blancos lost heavily against Pachuca last weekend and then lost midweek to Ascenso MX club Dorados in the Copa MX, arriving for their Matchday 3 game vs Monterrey in terrible form.
Rayados fans will view this game as the perfect opportunity to grab another dominating win, just like the one they inflicted on Pachuca in Matchday 1.
Monterrey is aiming to compete for the Liga MX title and convincingly defeating weaker clubs such as Queretaro is a necessary step to achieve that.
If they fail to get a win in this game, serious questions will be asked about whether or not Monterrey are truly title contenders despite having a crop of young, promising Mexican players like Jonathan Gonzalez and Rodolfo Pizarro.

Previous game
Monterrey wasted a 2-0 lead against Club Leon and were stunned by a last-second equalizer. This was a surprise given the annihilation of Pachuca in Matchday 1, and Monterrey will have been bitterly disappointed in missing out on a good opportunity to stay at the top of the league.
Key Players for Monterrey
Striker Aviles Hurtado and Mexican youngster Jonathan Gonzalez are extremely important for Monterrey. Hurtado will look to score goals against Queretaro while Gonzalez will actively look to disrupt the Gallos Blancos’ efforts to move through midfield as the Rayados look to produce another dominating win.
Prediction
I think Monterrey’s disappointing result against Club Leon will come back to haunt Queretaro as the Rayados will be focused on winning in dominant style. I believe it will be a long 90 minutes for the Gallos Blancos and I think that it will be a 5-0 win for Monterrey. If things go terrible wrong and Queretaro gets points from this game then the Rayados’ ambitions will be questioned.
