Chivas in line to bring Marco Fabian back home
The 30-year-old midfielder could return to his first team when his MLS contract expires in December.
According to several reports, former Chivas star Marco Fabian could be headed back to Mexico after his contract with the Philadelphia Union expires at the end of the current MLS season. The strongest rumors would have the playmaking midfielder signing with his original team, Guadalajara, in time to play in the Clausura 2020 season.
Fabian debuted with the Chivas in the Apertura 2007 season, starring for Guadalajara until 2013, during which he scored 38 goals. He was then loaned out to Cruz Azul for two seasons. Fabian made 35 appearances with the Cementeros, scoring 7 goals and providing 3 assists.
The attacking midfielder returned to the Chivas for the Clausura 2015 and Apertura 2015 seasons. During his 9 1/2 years with Guadalajara, Fabian had 232 appearances in all competitions, during which he scored 57 goals and had 36 assists. He helped the Chivas win the 2015 Copa MX.

Fabian then made a leap to Europe, signing with Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt. During his time in Frankfurt, Fabian scored eight goals in 50 appearances, winning the German Cup in 2018.
Fabian’s resumé speaks for itself, a consistent, reliable playmaker such that he has played for El Tri in all age groups. He was a member of Mexico’s Gold Medal-winning Olympic team in 2012 and was on El Tri’s 2014 and 2018 World Cup rosters.
At the moment, the Chivas face relegation issues and have had some struggles during the Apertura 2019 such that fans have booed the team at Estadio Akron. Acquiring a quality veteran player could certainly help stabilize the Chivas who might be looking for a new coach soon if Tomas Boy can’t turn things around quickly.
