Third-place Santos hosts the second-place Gallos Blancos, both with a chance to climb over idle Necaxa.

Queretaro has proven to be one of the hardest teams to beat in the Apertura 2019 and will be a very tough out in the  Ligulla. Each weekend, they have demonstrated that they can take any team in the low and high ranks.

Los Gallos Blancos earned their 8th win of the season (tied for most wins with Santos and Necaxa)  after their marvelous display against the Pumas at the Estadio Corregidora. That win saw Victor Manuel Vucetich’s team climb past Santos into 2nd place (on goal differential) with 27 points. Queretaro is not only among the top defensive teams in the tournament with (second to Tigres with only 14 goals allowed), but their 26 goals is fourth-best in Liga MX.

So if we all stand back and observe the big picture of Los Gallos Blancos de Queretaro, they are equipped from goalkeeper all the way up to the top in the strikers position. What is most surprising is that the team does not really boast any genuine star players. They are a true definition of a team working together.

Santos Laguna is scary good on offense and vicious on defense. The Guerreros lead the league with 32 goals scored and their 27 points has them even with Queretaro. Both teams trail first-place Necaxa by a single point.

Santos is coming off a surprising 2-2 draw at Morelia, earning a tough point on a rainy Friday night, coming back from a goal twice, scoring the equalizer in the final 10 minutes of the game.

The winner at Estadio Corona will move into sol possession of first place with only three games remaining. If the game ends in a draw, there will be a three-way tie for first place, with Necaxa likely on top due to goals scored. Neither team will want to drop any points at this stage of the tournament because Leon, America and the Tigres are lurking right behind them in the standings and a top seed in the Liguilla is a priority.
