The Copa GNP Final is ready, and we have our two guests of honor: Chivas and Cruz Azul will feature in this exciting game ahead of the start of the Liga MX Guard1anes tournament.

Cruz Azul, on Wednesday, July 15th, eliminated Tigres in the semifinal that ended in a 1-1 draw was decided in a penalty shootout that the Maquina overcome Tigres. In the Clasico featured Chivas beating America in a seven-goal thriller that finished 4-3 in favor of El Rebaño.

Other than the fact that it is a friendly tournament, this game will give each the winning mentality to keep their winning ways ahead of the start of the Liga MX Guard1anes tournament. Both teams will make their debut against tough oppositions, Chivas will host Leon, who finished second in the Clausura before the tournament was canceled. Cruz Azul hosts Santos led by their newly-named captain Julio Cesar Furch.

This tournament has shown that Cruz Azul hasn’t entirely lost their rhythm despite not playing for almost three months. Chivas has also proven to be a real contender for this upcoming Gurad1anes tournament. Cruz Azul will seek to look to maintain their good form and reclaim the top of the table as they were when the Clausura ended. Chivas will also try to keep their proper shape and stay in the top spots to avoid any slip-ups.

Both teams last faced-off in the 2020 Clausura. Chivas lost at home 2-1 against the Maquina Cementera. This final could be an excellent way for Chivas to win against Cruz Azul, a team that they’ve beaten twice in their last ten previous encounters. Cruz Azul has scored 14 goals compared to Chivas’ 10 goal-tally in these last head-to-head games.

The Copa GNP has proven that all involved teams see where they are in perspective and what area they need to work. So far, Cruz Azul is proving to be quite the threat for this upcoming Guard1anes tournament.

Who do you think will win the final?
