Matchday 9 of the Liga MX Apertura brought two of the best teams in Mexico, Toluca and Monterrey, together with both teams vying for league's top spot.
Elsewhere, current league leaders Cruz Azul played host to Querétaro as Club América faced San Luis on the road.
Midweek action also called on León to respond to their 5-0 loss to Tijuana at the weekend as Chivas were looking to do the same following a 3-0 defeat against Toluca.

Puebla 2-2 Pachuca
Jaime Lozano has been under pressure, having secured four wins from four at the start of the season, but this draw against bottom-of-the-table Puebla makes it six games that Los Tuzos have faced without picking up a win. Blushes were even spared for the visitors, who despite taking the lead through Oussama Idrissi, went behind as Emiliano Gomez bagged a brace to turn the tide before an 82nd-minute equaliser from Alan Bautista saved the guests.
Chivas 3-1 Necaxa
Chivas managed to bounce back after suffering a heavy loss to Toluca, with fans most excited about the last-minute goal from 17-year-old Samir Inda, who came off the bench and scored on his debut to seal the points for Fernando Gago's side.
Juárez 3-1 Pumas
Pumas’ road woes continued, this time up at the border. It took Juárez just 14 minutes to break through, with Óscar Estupiñán finding the opener. The visitors managed to pull level on the hour mark thanks to Guillermo Martínez, but their hopes quickly unravelled when José Caicedo was shown a second yellow card. With the man advantage, Juárez regained control, and Rodolfo Pizarro struck again, making it back-to-back goals after his recent contribution against Cruz Azul.
León 2-2 Mazatlán
León were unable to hold onto maximum points despite taking a two-goal lead into the halftime break. A second-half double from Anderson Duarte means that they avoid returning to Sinaloa empty-handed.

Cruz Azul 2-2 Querétaro
Top of the table Cruz Azul were stunned when Querétaro took an advantage into the break, despite taking the lead through José Paradela early in the game, but the visitors turned the game on its head when Santiago Homenchenko scored twice, including an effort from the halfway line that managed to catch Kevin Mier off guard. Despite the result, La Máquina remain top, but for how much longer?
Tigres 2-0 Atlas
In a night full of action, Tigres quietly get the job done with goals from Ozziel Herrera and Diego Lainez as they move to within five points of Cruz Azul before heading to Querétaro for a weekend clash.
Toluca 6-2 Monterrey
The game of the round was at the Estadio Nemesio Diez as Toluca ran rampant against Los Rayados. Prior to this, Monterrey had gone nine games without defeat, but were dealt a blow when they leaked two late goals against Club América to drop two points.
Despite their weekend disappointments, the visitors took the lead through German Berterame and had the perfect chance to double their lead before Sergio Ramos' paneka lofted into the hands of a grateful Hugo González. Three minutes later, Toluca were up the end and made Ramos pay as Jesús Angulo levelled the game before Paulinho completely turned the game in favour of the hosts five minutes after the former Real Madrid captain's miss from 12 yards.
The final ten minutes of the first half continued in the same vein as three goals were shared between the teams, leaving Toluca with a two-goal advantage, whilst Paulinho had a brace to his name.
Toluca continued as they meant to go on, adding an extra two goals as Paulinho scored a third to take home the match ball before Nicolás Castro netted his second of the game to round off an emphatic result against a serious title contender.

San Luis 0-1 Club América
Club América left it late but managed to find the winning goal through Alex Zendejas to move them to within one point of Toluca and Monterrey and two points adrift of city rivals Cruz Azul.
Santos Laguna 1-0 Tijuana
Tijuana put five past León at the weekend but seemed out of ideas as they drew blank in Torreón. The game's only goal came in the 95th minute as Cristian Dajome netted, but Francisco Rodríguez's side were down a man when Bruno Barticciotto receievd a second yellow card ten minutes prior to Dajome's winner.
