It was a night to a remember for Los Rayados, but is it the end for one of their best players?

Matchday three brought us tests for Toluca and Chivas, the only two sides with a 100% record, as Club América searched a first win of the season.

Elsewhere, Pumas were back in the capital following a hard-fought win against Tigres midweek with the visit of León while Santos Laguna looked to get away from the foot of the table after back-to-back defeats, with the visit of Juárez.

The week brought us a clash of the Apertura finalists, Toluca and Tigres, as Monterrey headed beach-side, for a Friday night encounter with Mazatlán.

Friday 14th January 2026

Mazatlán 1-5 Monterrey

Los Rayados opened the weekend with a controlling performance in Sinaloa, a game which helped open Anthony Martial's account for the club, six months after joining and a likely last goal for German Berterame, who is poised to leave the club for Inter Miami.

Necaxa 0-1 Atlas

Los Rojinegros made it two wins from three in a match where both teams were reduced to ten men. The only goal of the game came moments before the interval as Arturo González scored his first goal of the campaign as Los Rayos fall to a second defeat of the season.

Chivas 2-1 Querétaro

Chivas maintain their 100% record to start the season, as Armando González opened the scoring for a second straight home game before Roberto Alvarado doubled the lead. Despite the win, the home side would be forced to work for the result when Mateo Coronel pulled one back for the visitors, but his 81st minute strike would end up being nothing more than a consolation.

Tigres 0-0 Toluca

The Apertura finalists met on Matchday Three in a bore draw, chances came for both sides but neither were able to make a mark on the game with Juan Brunetta seeing his long range goal disallowed for an obvious foul in the build-up.

Cruz Azul 1-0 Puebla

Cruz Azul called upon José Paradela to score a second straight goal to get past a struggling Puebla. Los Camotes were forced to sit in-front of their goal for much of the game, due to a straight red card handed to Fernando Monarrez, and despite their best efforts to frustrate La Máquina, the deadlock was finally undone deep in the second half with the Argentine striking from close range.

Tijuana 1-1 San Luis

Los Xolos were left heartbroken when a 95th minute equally stole a point for San Luis. The bittersweet result leaves the hosts undefeated on five points after the opening three matches, whilst Los Potosinos find themselves only a point behind, thanks to the dramatic equaliser from Fidel Barajas.

Sunday 16th January 2026

Pumas 1 vs 1 León

In a game full of firsts, both sides saw their new winter striker signings get on the scoresheet with Diber Cambindo joining from Necaxa, striking first in the opening moments of the game before Los Universitarios responded in the second half through Juninho, Pumas' new frontman, who signed from Flamengo earlier in the month.

Santos Laguna 2 vs 2 Juárez

Santos Laguna took the lead twice in a game where they could only walk away with a point. Ezequiel Bullaude opened the scoring before Rodolfo Pizarro fired back in the second half, but the hosts would go back in front less than four minutes later as Fran Villaba was the first to respond to his own missed penalty to leave no doubt but Juárez came back again, through José Rodríguez, to share the points.

Pachuca 0 vs 0 Club América

Sunday's final matchup made it a third straight draw, one that would leave América goalless in their first three matches of the season, while Los Tuzos take four points from their opening round of Clausura fixtures.
