Club América announces first signing as Brazilian midfielder arrives

Club América has been quiet in the transfer window ahead of the 2026 Clausura, but the club has finally announced a signing.

On their social media pages, Club América announced the arrival of former Atlético San Luis midfielder Rodrigo Dourado. The 31-year-old midfielder has played in Liga MX since 2022 with San Luis.

On the Día de los Reyes Magos, América posted an interview with their new player, who is regarded as one of the best midfielders in Liga MX over the past few years.

Rodrigo Dourado reportedly signed a two-year contract, and América reportedly paid around $1.5 million.

Club América's head coach, André Jardine, highly requested that the club bring in the Brazilian midfielder. Dourado is expected to be a fundamental player for the team, as there are rumors that the club may have a lot of departures.

Rodrigo Dourado's time in Liga MX

Rodrigo Dourado first played in Liga MX during the 2022 Apertura with Atlético San Luis. Dourado played 31 games across the 2022 Apertura and the 2023 Clausura seasons.

Dourado played seven seasons with Atlético San Luis, scoring five goals and providing four assists throughout his time there.

In the 2025 Apertura, Dourado played 15 games, where he provided two assists. His last game for Atlético San Luis was against FC Juárez on November 1, 2025, where he recieevd a red card.
